The nfl season finally kicks off tonite.  i thought it would be interesting if everyone listed their expectations of who they think will be this years winners and compare them to the actualy results.  kinda like the commerical the nfl does at the end of every year about peoples preseason predictions.  i will go ahead and do conference winners, wild card, and superbowl since those are the most obvious.  also i will go ahead and add who will walk away with next years first overall pick as well.

nfc

north:  minnesota
south:  new orleans
east:  dallas (best nfc record)
west:  seattle (worst division ever...)

wild card:  tampa bay
wild card:  new york

afc

north:  browns
south:  jacksonville
east:  patriots  (best regular season record)
west:  san diego

wild card:  indy
wild card:  new york(easier division than steelers)

super bowl:  dallas vs san diego (if merriman comes back otherwise jacksonville)
super bowl champs:  dallas

first pick at next years draft:  san fran makes a strong case but im going with miami for the repeat

Interesting.

nfc

north:  minnesota
south:  new orleans
east:  dallas
west:  st. louis

wild card:  giants

afc

north:  stealers
south:  jacksonville
east:  patriots
west:  oakland

wild card:  houston (surprise of the year)

super bowl:  minnesota vs jacksonville
super bowl champs:  minnesota

first pick at next years draft: KC. I think they post the worst record this season once their star players start dropping like flies.

I think Merriman fucks up his knee even worse and is forced to retire after the season.

i guess i should have done 2 wild cards lol. i guess i will edit that in

i do like ur pick of minnesota in the superbowl.  i was thinking the same thing since they remind me of the ravens when they won it all.  but i really dislike tarvis jackson (y didnt they sign pennington?) and ultimately the cowboys look incredibly good on paper.  my biggest scare for my 2 superbowl choices is that they are starting to look like perennial playoff choke artists.

I actually like San Diego, but something tells me this year they do worse than last. I am worried for Merriman. I seriously think he should have taken the season off and gotten the surgery.

I agree with you on Jackson, I think he's hit or miss. Reminds me of the QB for the Stealers before Rothlesberger. What was his name again?

Tommy Maddox?  That guy was garbage.

nfc

north:  minnesota (best nfc record)
south:  new orleans (close call with carolina)
east:  dallas
west:  seattle (if Arizona could put together a damn O-line, they'd have a shot)

wild card:  carolina
wild card:  new york

afc

north:  steelers
south:  indianapolis
east:  patriots  (best record)
west:  san diego

wild card:  jax
wild card:  new york

super bowl:  dallas vs pittsburgh
super bowl champs:  dallas

After looking back at this list, it might be a little subjective.  I very much dislike San Diego (and that douche, Rivers), but I think they can go far - even without Merriman.  Same thing with New England.  I know they have a great shot at the super bowl, but I'll be damned if they make my final list.  By the way, I think Favre will do a good job in New York even though the team has been changed around so much.  Look at what he did in Green Bay with all those young kids.  Speaking of which, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Packers made the wild card.

And Rat, I love the Houston pick.  Schaub has an excellent connection with Andre Johnson.  As long as Green stays healthy...

I was thinking Cordell Stewart. Guy seemed to have potential but never truly blossomed into a great qb.
